Viparis is launching a calculator to measure the carbon footprint of exhibitions, conventions and events. The tool takes into consideration the type of event, special features of the Viparis premises and organisers' actions from planning through to implementation. Using the calculator makes it possible to identify the event factors with the greatest environmental impact.

Making discoveries with a PDA
General or in-depth information can simply be called up in exhibitions using a multimedia guide. The Informationsgesellschaft, Bremen, presented Xpedeo at Exponatec Cologne 2009. It makes individual or guided discovery tours possible with mobile pocket computers or smartphones. One new feature is that the guide is now also available for the Android operating system. On touchscreens, discoverers can scroll through contents with their fingertips, receiving vibration feedback when they press a screen button; rotating the device automatically switches the display from portrait to landscape. Users can also plan their own tours through an exhibition in advance via the Internet and call it up on their PDA when they arrive. akm www.xpedeo.de
