Viparis is launching a calculator to measure the carbon footprint of exhibitions, conventions and events. The tool takes into consideration the type of event, special features of the Viparis premises and organisers' actions from planning through to implementation. Using the calculator makes it possible to identify the event factors with the greatest environmental impact.

Looking forward to the future
Dr. Holzinger, Intervaro-Messebau, Heinsberg, has been serving many of its clients for decades. It's now time for change: In future, the company will be called just Dr. Holzinger.
Many of the customer relationships are old by today's standards: They have lasted for over 30 years. No wonder clients just ring up and quite naturally ask for “Mattes” or one of his colleagues. “Solutions for delight and success”, the company promises on its web site. The clients and service provider know each other well and appreciate the benefits of the relationship. The client/exhibitor relationship has morphed into a partnership. It's more than just a slogan when Schuckel says: “Reliability, flexibility, and individuality are a matter of course.”
Not only customers are loyal to the company: Some of the staff have been with Dr. Holzinger from the outset. Marcel Schuckel's father was one of them.
You may have the impression that trade fair contractor Dr. Holzinger only works with regular clients. That is not so. It has gained many new clients in recent years. These include the companies Thorwesten and Foppe.
They will now have to get used to a change because Dr. Holzinger Intervaro-Messebau is shedding its cumbersome name. In future, the emphasis will again be on Dr. Holzinger. Intervaro will then be playing second fiddle, at least in the name. “We do more than just trade fair contracting. Intervaro-Messebau does not convey what we really do”, says Schuckel with force. “We stage brands.” And he continues: “30, 25 years ago, when systems were especially strong, the epithet became important. After all, our system starts where others stop. Two years ago, we implemented a sale system stand for one of our clients, in which two baldachins 13 m long and 5 m wide formed the roof over the product area. This baldachin is filled with louvres, contains all the lighting and has to span about 10 m without intermediate supports. But our system is only a one aspect of our expertise. We tailor concepts to the needs of our clients. However, production is performed in our own workshop. We have all the skills, carpenters, fitters, painters, electricians, and the necessary machine park for any job.”
Marcel Schuckel grew up with the company. His father joined Dr. Holzinger as a carpenter and a few years and career steps later, he was its managing director. Marcel junior always knew he wanted to do that job, too. “I was fascinated by trade fair contracting from the beginning.” And he adds: “You do have to be a little mad for this business.”
He is looking forward to the future and takes this notion as his guiding principle. “By looking forward to the future, we combine motivation, competency and performance and support our clients with their exhibition successes.” This support benefits clients, who are spread throughout Germany. Many of them receive full-service support. Storage of stands is no problem. The activities of Dr. Holzinger are not limited to Germany. Clients are supported from Antalya to Shanghai, with a Hong Kong partner helping out in Asia.
The new company name also means a new logo. For the future, too, Marcel Schuckel promises “economic, ecological solutions that are the result of experience and fresh ideas.”
