A model of sustainability

Leipziger Messe is Germany's first major trade fair company to have committed itself to sustainability as the underlying principle for responsible business conduct. This sustainable approach has now been acknowledged with the Green Globe Certificate, which is recognised worldwide for the tourism and event sector. At the same time, Leipziger Messe is launching a sustainability process for the company headlined "Growth in Balance", setting the pace for the German trade fairs and exhibitions industry. Sustainability is becoming an important strategic competitive advantage and Leipzig wants to lead the way on this in Germany, the trade fair company’s managing director Martin Buhl-Wagner says. "We don't want to preach sacrifice. Our company wants and ought to continue growing," he continues. But he believes long-term growth is possible only if the interests of the environment, the community and Leipzig’s partners in the economic cycle are respected and if they are able to expand in collaboration with the fair company. Biggest gathering of meetings and events industry in Europe

The European Meetings and Events Conference (EMEC) will take place February 13 to 15, 2011 in Dusseldorf. It will be hosted by the association MPI - Meetings Professionals International - headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The annual EMEC conference is the biggest gathering of the meetings and events industry in Europe.

Online newsroom of Messe Frankfurt

Messe Frankfurt has set up an online newsroom. Tweets, photostreams, RSS feeds and other Web 2.0 communication tools are available there for journalists, clients, partners and other interested parties. The newsroom complements the previous range of information on events in communities and social networks. The information is also available on mobile phones with the iPhone app "Messe Frankfurt Monitor".

Business events industry in Malaysia

In 2009, 1.18 million overseas business event visitors travelled to Malaysia. The country is developing its niche in the highly competitive business events industry - looking to become a preferred destination of Islamic finance and Halal industry conferences and trade shows.
